I hope everyone aware of Bhringraj/Karisalankanni oil, it is an important key ingredient in the making of herbal hair oils. Today I’m popping up with an interesting post about how to do Bhringraj/Karisalankanni hair oil at home. The preparation is quite easy while finding the plant is bit difficult.
My mother always does homemade hair oils often for me. This time for my surprise she found Bhringraj/Karisalankanni plant from our neighbor, where our neighbor got the plants from their field (good for us :D). As my mother started to do hair oil, I took my cam and followed her, my mom :staring: , after couple of seconds my mother made me do this recipe. This is why I don’t go into kitchen even at any remote possibility :P. It was fun anyway :)
Before going into the hair oil recipe let me peep out some important benefits of Karisalankanni/Bhringraj plant for you,

- First this plant is called by names like False daisy, Eclipta Alba, Kehraj, Maca, Bhangra, Bhringaraj and Bhringraja.
- Supplies natural oil to hair which can be easily absorbed by scalp and this oil don not clog the pores,
- Stimulates the hair follicles and grows new hairs,
- Strengthens the scalp and follicles of the head,
- Prevents from dandruff at larger extent,
- Helps to the growth of hairs and hopefully reduce the number of grey hairs and preserves t the original color of hair,
- Makes hair softer and can soften locks. Hair grows much healthier and stronger.
Hope the above points explain lot :) now back to preparation,
Ingredients:
- Bhringraj/Karisalankanni plants -50g
- Coconut oil- 200ml
- Fenugreek seeds- 2 spoons
Steps to Follow:
Step 1:
Add the Bhringraj/Karisalankanni plants into blender and blend it ¼ th, just for couple of minutes or 1. Don’t make into paste, it would be lot difficult while you filter oil finally, so remember.
Step 2:
Add 200ml of coconut into heating pan. The carrier oil is upto your choice. But coconut oil is most preferable carrier oil by me.
Step 3:
Add the not-fully-blended plant mixture into the hot coconut oil. Heat the mixture with oil for about 8-10 minutes in low flame. In between add the fenugreek seeds into the oil and heat up. Fenugreek seeds are also good for hair-growth, especially they provide coolness to scalp. After ten minutes you can see bigger bubbles are down and oil turning into green. It means oil is free from h2o.
Step 4:
Soon after ten minutes, allow the oil to cool. Leave the oil for overnight with a lid. The oil sucks up all the remaining essential oil from Bhringraj/Karisalankanni.
Step 5:
Next morning stain the green pretty oil into clean glass jar. Look out, not even half-drop water should be mixed with oil, accidently.
Oh! Now the Bhringraj/Karisalankanni hair oil is super ready to use.
